  1. 1. Roofline panorama: Frame a lit roofline across the lower half of a horizontal photo, with sky above.
  2. 2. Tall-tree portrait: Turn the phone vertically and frame a lit outdoor tree from base to top, if it fits from your safe viewing spot.
  3. 3. Repeating shapes: Include three matching illuminated shapes in one picture.
  4. 4. Big and small: Put a larger decoration and a smaller one together in the frame.
  5. 5. Balanced pair: Frame two decorations with an open space between them.
  6. 6. Space to glow: Place one lit decoration to the side, leaving dark sky beside it.

Play at your pace

Reuse a display for different compositions. Skip any shot needing a closer or unsafe position. Ask before photographing people or sharing their pictures; avoid house numbers and license plates.

Drivers never participate while driving. Passengers stay restrained and do not distract the driver. Mark sheets and take vehicle photos only when legally parked, not at traffic lights. Walkers stop safely to write or take photos.

Use lawful public viewing spots or get permission. Stay out of yards and driveways; keep paths clear. Check weather and access first. Skip flashing displays or use still pictures, drawings, or descriptions indoors. Postpone unsafe outings.
